Description

The Columbia Full over Full Bunk Bed is constructed of sturdy hardwood in a Mission style that features stylish slats. It includes 26 steel reinforcement points to give you peace of mind while your children sleep. Each bunk is full-sized, which offers extra room for one or two children to sleep comfortably. The bunk bed can be separated into two full beds.

 

You can customize this attractive bed to suit your style and your needs. Choose from several beautiful finishes to complement the style of your child's bedroom. Order the bunk bed with an optional under-bed trundle to save space and add extra sleeping space for over-night guests. If you need more room for clothes in the bedroom, choose the two-drawer option for convenient, under-bed storage.

 

About Atlantic Furniture
Founded in 1983 as Watercraft, Inc., Atlantic Furniture started as a manufacturer of pine waterbed frames. Since then, the Springfield, Mass.-based company has expanded to Fontana, Calif. The company has moved away from the use of pine and now specializes in imported furniture made of the wood of rubber trees.

 

The Benefits of Eco-Friendly Rubberwood
Prized as an environmentally friendly wood, rubberwood makes use of trees that have been cut down at the end of their latex-producing life cycle. The trees are removed by hand and replaced with new seedlings. In the past, felled rubber trees were either burned on the spot or used as fuel for locomotive engines, brick firing, or latex curing. Now the wood is used in the manufacture of high-end furniture. It is valued for its dense grain, stability, attractive color, and acceptance of different finishes.

 

Atlantic's Unique Five-Step Finishing Process
Each product in the entire line is finished with a high-build, five-step finishing process. After a thorough sanding, a wipe-on sealer is applied, followed by a tinted sealer to even the grain and color of the wood. Additional sanding prepares the surface for the first base color coat, more sanding, and a second base color coat. After a final sanding, the finish coat is applied. This process produces a beautiful and durable finish that will last for years.

    Terrible Rail Construction + Cheap Screw

    The rail construction was very shoddy on two of the rails. Whoever made it drilled all the way through and then filled with wood filler. We had to drill out the opening to get the screws to fit. The screws were very cheap and would strip very easily. What should have been an easy project was a total pain all because someone didn't care enough to pay attention to what they were building. We are using these for a Lake House guest room and they will work fine but for the price I would expect a little better quality.

          Overall this bed is pretty nice. However, there were a few things that if I had known sooner, may have affected the way I purchased this bed. First of all, I was really frustrated that it was missing a set of hardware for the lower rails, so we had to improvise for the time being. Second I made the mistake of thinking that the mattress that came with the bed would be somewhat reasonable but it is really not even worth it. It is so thin, that it puts to much pressure on the already thin wood of the slats in the bed which make them very vulnerable to breaking. So I will likely have to buy another mattress for both beds anyway.
          The beds were fairly easy to put together and the drawers are nice and big and worth the extra money. Overall, this was worth it other than the mattresses.

          The full size bunk bed is pretty nice. The slats for the bed's quality is a little weak but enough to support a young kid. The 2 free mattresses is really cheap but it's free. Screws didn't fit in all the holes to put the bed together. It took awhile to get it to fit correctly. Overall it is pretty nice.

                The wrong colored bunk bed was delivered. It was supposed to be antique walnut as it appeared on the internet it was a dark finish. What I received was a natural wood finish it is very light in color DEFINITELY not what I ordered. In addition, all the boxes were in bad shape when they arrived. In fact, one of the boxes was partially open exposing an entire kit of wood slats. I couldn't believe my eyes when the delivery was made. This was an absolute bad experience for me.

                I love these beds. My two and a half year old does, too. I put them together by myself over about 3 hours, only needed help from the neighbor teen when stacking the bunks. I don't know why other people were complaining of the assembly. I was disappointed in the color, though. I chose the natural maple because of the way it looked in the assembled picture, but it really is the color of the swatch. We'll probably have the beds painted. I also don't think the quality of the slats in either bunk are very sturdy. I can hear them cracking when I lay on the beds with my kids. The slats on the trundle are real wood, however, and are very sturdy. I wish the others were of the same material. Overall though we are really happy with them. The free mattresses are really cheap, but my kids are potty training, so they will do for now.
