Metal hardware is used to attach the side rails to bed ends, and all bed rails are made of veneered plywood, (not MDF or solids) in order to prevent warping and splitting. The only thing that concerns me about the bed is the slats that the mattress sits on. They seem a little less sturdy than I would want. When my daughter gets a little bigger I may want to reinforce them.
